This year we had Christmas at my parents. Thanksgiving was the first time Dave had been to the house so hanging out with my parents is still kind of new. Ashley (6) and Austin (4) got bikes for Christmas so they enjoyed biking around my parent's street. We spent Christmas Eve at Bill's which is a tradition for the Ganders. There was lots of great food and present opening.
We went to the Nelson's New Years Eve celebration the night before and played games with friends. They call it a hogmanay which is the Scots word for the last day of the year and is synonymous with the celebration of the New Year in the Scottish manner. The Nelsons discovered the word one year playing a game and now use it for the name of their celebration. Everyone plays games and enjoys food. After hanging out there for a bit we came back to Dave's apartment and had our friends Jon and Yvette over. They stayed the night so we could all get up early and go to Mt Hood to try out snowboarding for the first time. Snowboarding on Mt Hood for New Years Day was such a great way to ring in the New Year!
